"The 2015 Corton Blanc Grand Cru has a primal bouquet: pineapple, passion fruit and pear, perhaps missing some of the mineralité of its peers. The palate is rounded on the entry with a slightly waxy texture; honey, peach skin and nectarine notes with a pinch of white pepper, leading to a tropical-tinged finish . . . . Whilst this domaine is not as well known as others in this report, it is always important to keep track of the young winemakers. Freddy Meuneveaux (and he did say that it was 'Freddy' and not 'Frédéric') told me that his whites were bottled the first week of September, whilst the red wines had been racked the previous week. He found his 2015s sweet and fruit-driven and was careful with the punching down to avoid any over-extraction, conducting pumping over when he felt it was the right thing to do. 'I was thinking that the vintage is similar to 2009 and 2012,' he remarked. 'We compare it with 2005 in terms of weather' . . . . the Corton-Bresandes is superb and the Aloxe-Corton Village demonstrated more cohesion than the premier cru at present. This is still a domaine to keep an eye on."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
Produces the world's most revered Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a mosaic of tiny, terroir-defined climats. Its hierarchy of village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards makes site the ultimate expression of quality.
Aloxe-Corton is a village AOC in Burgundy's Cote de Beaune, ringing the Corton hill and holding Premier Cru vineyards; it produces mostly firm, structured, earthy Pinot Noir reds built for medium-term aging.
2015 in Burgundy was warm and dry, yielding concentrated, powerful and opulent reds with ripe tannins from low yields; the whites are richer and generous, though some show comparatively lower acidity.
The world's most versatile white grape, producing everything from steely Chablis to rich, oaked whites. Its neutrality makes it a mirror of terroir and winemaking, and the foundation of white Burgundy and Champagne.
