"Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Blanchots-Dessus has a pleasant reduction on the nose, maintaining impressive delineation and poise, very detailed, a bouquet with a spring in its step. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, plenty of tension here with vibrant citrus fruit laced with orange zest and ginger, leading to a focused and quite sustained finish that has plenty of coiled-up energy. This is bang on the money. Tasted May 2016."

2013 in Burgundy was a difficult, cool and hail-hit year with a late harvest and small crop; the wines are fresh, lean and classically styled, with bright acidity and firm structure, especially the reds.
The world's most versatile white grape, producing everything from steely Chablis to rich, oaked whites. Its neutrality makes it a mirror of terroir and winemaking, and the foundation of white Burgundy and Champagne.
