"From Pernand and Ladoix. A discreet if not invisible touch of wood can be found on the ripe yet agreeably cool aromas of pear, apple, white flower and a subtle hint of wet stone. The big-bodied and powerful flavors are also quite rich though there is much better vibrancy to the succulent but clean, dry and impressively persistent finish. In the context of what is typical for Corton-Charlemagne, this too should drink well . . ."

Aloxe-Corton is a village AOC in Burgundy's Cote de Beaune, ringing the Corton hill and holding Premier Cru vineyards; it produces mostly firm, structured, earthy Pinot Noir reds built for medium-term aging.

The world's most versatile white grape, producing everything from steely Chablis to rich, oaked whites. Its neutrality makes it a mirror of terroir and winemaking, and the foundation of white Burgundy and Champagne.
