"It has a wild balsamic nose of eucalyptus, rosemary, thyme, lavender, nutmeg, cola, quinine and some notes of vermouth (make that a Barolo Chinato!). David tells me that this nose comes from the Graciano, but I have not found it in other Gracianos. The lively palate has bright acidity (pH is 3.1 with almost 8 grams of acidity!), clean flavors, great persistence and length. A wine of strong personality, one of those love-it or hate-it wines. 3,000 bottles were produced."

Spain has the largest area under vine of any country and a deep tradition of oak-aged reds. Tempranillo-based wines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, alongside Priorat's Garnacha and Carinena, anchor its fine-wine reputation.
A warm-climate red giving generous, high-alcohol wines of red fruit and spice. It anchors southern Rhone blends and old-vine wines in Spain and Australia.
Spain's noble red grape, producing structured, savory wines of red fruit and leather that respond beautifully to oak aging in Rioja and Ribera del Duero.
