"(55% Grenache, 40% Carignan and 5% Merlot; the crop level was reportedly just 15 hectoliters per hectare) Saturated ruby. Superripe Grenache-dominated aromas of roasted berries and melted chocolate. Rich, dense and large-scaled, but with firm minerality and brisk acids almost magically giving the superripe flavors a cool aspect. Flavors of graphite, licorice and liquefied minerals. An impressively weighty wine with excellent thrust and grip."

Spain has the largest area under vine of any country and a deep tradition of oak-aged reds. Tempranillo-based wines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, alongside Priorat's Garnacha and Carinena, anchor its fine-wine reputation.

One of only two wines with Spain's top DOQ status, yielding dense, mineral Garnacha and Carinena from steep slate slopes.
A warm-climate red giving generous, high-alcohol wines of red fruit and spice. It anchors southern Rhone blends and old-vine wines in Spain and Australia.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
