". . . a blend from Bouscat’s best vineyard parcel consisting of 50% Merlot and the rest equal parts Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Densely opaque purple, with notes of incense, acacia flowers, blackberries and cassis, this is a sensational wine that could easily be a grand cru classe. All of it was made and aged in 320-liter demi-muids and bottled with very little SO2, although some was used. This is an amazing effort that needs to be tasted to be believed . . . . These are all exclusives of the American broker/negociant Jeffrey M. Davies. There are three cuvees, with the Caduce replacing what was simply called their Cuvee Classique. This is a major over-achieving, 20-acre, south-facing hillside vineyard just in the shadow of Fronsac."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
The world's largest fine-wine region, built around blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Divided by the Gironde estuary into the structured Left Bank and the plush, Merlot-led Right Bank, it is the historic benchmark for age-worthy claret and sweet Sauternes.
An aromatic red grape lending perfume, red fruit and a leafy, savory edge. It thrives in the Loire and as a key blending partner in Bordeaux, especially Saint-Emilion.
Yields dark, plush reds with ripe black fruit and soft tannins. A traditional Bordeaux blender, it found its greatest fame in Argentina.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
