"No new oak is a recipe that totally appeals to my aesthetic sensibilities with Corton-Charlemagne, and this is exactly how Laurent Ponsot raises his example. The 2012 is an utterly brilliant wine in the making and was one of the most stunning white wines I tasted on my entire trip in November. The deep and fabulous nose soars from the glass in a complex blend of pear, apple, white flowers, a very complex base of white soil tones, a nice dollop of fresh almond, spring flowers and a gently musky topnote redolent of honeysuckle. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure and complex, with a great core of fruit, superb soil inflection, very suave, seamless acids and simply brilliant length and grip on the complex and perfectly balanced finish. This is a great, great bottle of Corton Charlie!"
