"The 2009 Clos de Bèze from the Drouhins is a stunning example of the vintage. The deep, complex and exuberantly refined nose soars from the glass in a blend of red and black cherries, plums, dark berries, raw cocoa, grilled meats, lovely spice tones and a brilliant base of soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and brilliantly delineated, with great balance, a fine core of fruit, ripe, sophisticated tannins and outstanding length and grip on the tangy and aristocratic finish. A beautiful bottle of Clos de Bèze."

2009 in Burgundy was warm and sunny, producing ripe, rich and generous reds of hedonistic charm and supple tannins; the whites are opulent but can lack acidity, making them best enjoyed relatively young.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
