"Along with Bahans-Haut-Brion and Forts de Latour, Clos du Marquis is one of Bordeaux's three finest second wines. The 1994 appears to be another noteworthy effort. It exhibits much of the same character as Leoville Las-Cases, but it is not as concentrated or as potentially long-lived. The saturated dark ruby/purple color is followed by a sweet, jammy nose of herbs and blackcurrants, medium body, excellent ripeness, and a multi-layered, fleshy finish that delivers considerable fruit buttressed by moderate tannin."
