"The richest and ripest of the premier crus, the 2010 Chassagne-Montrachet Clos St. Jean is also the most overtly mineral. Smoke, slate, nectarines and licorice jump from the glass. The intense style works beautifully here, but the Clos St. Jean remains a bit laid-back relative to the other wines I tasted from this site. Fine, saline veins of minerality support the extroverted, plush finish."

Produces the world's most revered Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a mosaic of tiny, terroir-defined climats. Its hierarchy of village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards makes site the ultimate expression of quality.
Chassagne-Montrachet is a village AOC in Burgundy's Cote de Beaune with numerous Premier Crus, renowned above all for rich, nutty, mineral Chardonnay whites, though it also makes firm Pinot Noir reds.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
