"I had never previously had the pleasure of tasting the 1962 Cheval Blanc, and the wine turned out to be an absolute delight. It is a classic vintage of fully mature and perfectly balanced Cheval, without quite the opulence of the 1964, but remarkably similar aromatics and flavors. The bouquet offers up a complex melange of mulberries, red cherries, coffee, menthol, roasted nuts, cigar ash, and cedary wood. On the palate the wine is medium-full, deep and resolved, with excellent focus and balance, a juicy core of fruit, and fine length and grip on the soft and elegant finish. There is little tannin still to be found here, but this wine’s exquisite balance suggests that it will continue cruising along just fine . . . . A classically proportioned and elegant vintage of Cheval."

The world's largest fine-wine region, built around blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Divided by the Gironde estuary into the structured Left Bank and the plush, Merlot-led Right Bank, it is the historic benchmark for age-worthy claret and sweet Sauternes.
An aromatic red grape lending perfume, red fruit and a leafy, savory edge. It thrives in the Loire and as a key blending partner in Bordeaux, especially Saint-Emilion.
