"This is the first 2009 bottling released from Château des Jacques and there will be several more cuvées released from this vintage over the coming year. The “basic” ’09 Moulin-à-Vent from Château des Jacques is absolutely stellar and very impressively transparent out of the blocks, as it delivers a complex aromatic mélange of red and black cherries, raw cocoa, pungent violets, a great base of soil and a bit of cedary wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and poised, with a rock solid core of fruit, a very primary palate profile at the present time, tangy acids, a fair bit of tannin to resolve and a very long and fairly powerful finish (particularly for Beaujolais) that today shows just a trace of its 13.5 percent alcohol. I would tuck this outstanding bottle away in the cellar for at least another three or four years and then drink it over the ensuing thirty to forty years. This is a terrific wine in the making and I cannot wait to taste my way up the 2009 food chain at Château des Jacques over the coming year!"
