"The 2008 Prieuré-Lichine is really a beautiful and exotic example of the vintage that has more than a touch of old school, classy California cabernet sauvignon in its aromatic profile. The deep, complex and very flamboyant nose jumps from the glass in a wave of ripe cassis, dark berries, eucalyptus, tobacco leaf, a nice base of soil and a very refined base of new oak. On the palate the wine is medium-full, deep and intensely flavored, with a lovely core of fruit, round, ripe and supple tannins, good acids, excellent balance and most impressive length and grip on the already quite complex finish. This reminds me quite a lot of the 1983 Prieuré-Lichine when it was first released, but with suaver tannins and faster blossoming development. It is a terrific vintage for this fine château and is already drinking very well indeed. I would still try to give it a few more years in the cellar to allow further layers of complexity to emerge, but for those who cannot keep their hands off of this delicious wine, I fully understand. A superb middleweight in the making and a wine that should be on every well-stocked wine list in the western world."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
The world's largest fine-wine region, built around blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Divided by the Gironde estuary into the structured Left Bank and the plush, Merlot-led Right Bank, it is the historic benchmark for age-worthy claret and sweet Sauternes.
The Left Bank appellation prized for perfumed, silky and elegant Cabernet-based wines. Gravel soils yield claret of aromatic finesse and refinement.
The world's most planted premium red grape, yielding deeply colored, tannic and structured wines with cassis, cedar and graphite notes. Firm tannins and acidity make it exceptionally age-worthy, whether as a varietal or the backbone of a Bordeaux blend.
