A very pretty nose of discreet wood, red and dark berry pinot fruit, wet stone, game and an herbal hint precedes the supple, round and fresh medium-bodied flavors that are refined and delicious, all wrapped in a dynamic finish that completely drenches the palate in pinot extract. This is not a big or especially complex Bonnes Mares but there is excellent length and I like the fine balance.

Produces the world's most revered Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a mosaic of tiny, terroir-defined climats. Its hierarchy of village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards makes site the ultimate expression of quality.

A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
