"(A blend of sangiovese, merlot, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and syrah) Good saturated red-ruby. Perfumed, complex nose melds black cherry, game, licorice, graphite and a floral element. Dense, layered and sweet; very ripe but also powerful and deep, with a superb middle for the vintage. Hints of minerals and graphite. Finishes with firm tannins and superb subtle persistence. "From whatever red juice is best in a given vintage," says Shoener, who added that this wine includes a good bit of the reserve sangiovese that had been aging in new barrels."
