An exuberantly spicy and exotic nose of black pinot, cassis and plum notes combines with hints of anise, cinnamon and clove that dissolve into more elegant and finer flavors that don't have the body and weight of the Clos de Vougeot but there is slightly better focus and overall harmony of expression here. A lovely Ech that will repay handsomely a decade of cellar time.
