"The 2005 Foillard Côte de Py comes across immediately as fresher, purer and more soil-driven than the lovely Cuvée Corcelette, and it too is another stellar and powerfully built example of the vintage that soars from the glass in a blend of black raspberry, espresso, black cherries, cocoa, violets, woodsmoke and a great base of minerality. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep, pure and soil-driven, with a rock solid core of fruit, outstanding focus, and great length and grip on the very intense, palate-staining finish. This is not quite as transparent as the Diochon Moulin-à-Vent or the Desvignes Javernières, but it too is an utterly superb bottle of Morgon in the making. I would try to give this beautiful wine at least a couple of years in the cellar to really blossom, but it is already rather irresistible with a short time in decanter. Great juice."
