"A fully mature yet still remarkably fresh nose of spice and smoky black fruit that displays no sous bois introduces big, robust, intense and quite powerful flavors that are underpinned by moderately firm though well-integrated tannins, all wrapped in an explosive finish that offers stunning complexity and outstanding persistence. This is not an elegant wine and certainly not by the standards of a domaine that, in the era, was known for fashioning some of the most refined and elegant wines in all of Burgundy. However, it is as I say a very powerful wine that will still be in fine shape 20 years from now."
