"Good medium red. Musky red fruits and pepper lifted by floral and spicy high notes on the nose. Big, velvety and very ripe, with lively inner-mouth notes of clove oil and pepper giving clarity and verve to the plush red fruit flavors. This very dense wine finishes with suave, building tannins. Although these wines were riper, chewier and larger-scaled than the 2010s I tasted on the same evening, most of them have more than enough energy to assure a slow evolution in bottle."

Produces the world's most revered Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a mosaic of tiny, terroir-defined climats. Its hierarchy of village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards makes site the ultimate expression of quality.

2009 in Burgundy was warm and sunny, producing ripe, rich and generous reds of hedonistic charm and supple tannins; the whites are opulent but can lack acidity, making them best enjoyed relatively young.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
