"The 1993 and 1994 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignons are the finest I have ever tasted from Richard Arrowood. The 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Malbec) is available in extremely limited quantities (600 cases). It reveals an opaque purple color, a tight but promising nose of ripe cassis, vanillin, and smoke. Less flattering and precocious when compared to Arrowood's other 1993 reds, this wine possesses exceptional richness, full body, the winery's hallmark purity, and an inner-core of sweet ripe fruit, nicely buttressed by wood and acidity. The finish lasts for 35+ seconds. . . .Don't miss it! For those desiring technical information, the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, a selection of the best lots in the cellar, is aged for 30 months in 50% new French oak casks, and the balance one year old casks. The wine is bottled without filtration.
