"The ’05 Les Maranches bottling is quite fine in this vintage, with a length, depth and intensity that is quite impressive. The bouquet is a bit more leesy than the above, as it offers up notes of ripe apples, peachy tones, wheat toast over a very fine and assertive base of complex minerality. On the palate the wine is medium-full, juicy and generous on the attack, but with serious acids, and a huge, soil-driven and rapier-like backend. This has excellent length and grip on the finish, with fine brightness, and the structural integrity to improve with a few years in the bottle. A fine, fine bottle of 2005 Mâcon."
