"The 2008 Echézeaux was still in cask at the time of my March visit and awaiting bottling (this was also the case with all of the remaining wines listed below). The wine is deep, pure and was really showing well, as it jumps from the glass in a beautiful mélange of black cherries, black raspberries, cocoa, woodsmoke, complex minerality, coffee and a stylish base of new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish, pure and very intensely flavored, with a great core of fruit, superb minerality, ripe tannins and excellent focus on the long, pure and tangy finish. This may well be the best vintage of Méo-Camuzet Echézeaux that I have yet tasted- at the very least it will certainly rank up there with the best to date that have been turned out here. I just love the combination of elegance and complexity on this very transparent wine."
