"Good deep ruby-red. Sappy aromas of black raspberry, minerals, pepper, smoked meat, dark chocolate and earth (Hall describes the nose as "brownies with baked walnuts"). Hugely sweet and deep, with a sappy quality to the fruit and complicating notes of pepper, herbs and spices. This has the lush texture, size and weight of a Burgundy grand cru. I would have scored it even higher but for a slight alcoholic warmth."
