"The 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Gli Angeli from La Gerla is unquestionably one of the finest 2001 Brunello Riservas I tasted. It captures the essence of the vintage in its ripe fruit and finessed, sweet tannins. Notes of dark cherries, raspberries, crushed flowers, minerals and cinnamon all flow from this weighty, creamy-textured Brunello. Its superb balance and harmony make it extremely pleasurable today, but it also appears to have the stuffing to age for another 10-15 years. This is superb effort from La Gerla is not to be missed."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
The heartland of Sangiovese, producing Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and the Cabernet-influenced 'Super Tuscans' of the coast. Its wines balance bright acidity, savory structure and cellar-worthiness.
A powerful, age-worthy Sangiovese from the warm hills of Montalcino, requiring extended aging and prized for depth and longevity.
