"At last, to end a mixed and mainly disappointing decade, a magnificent vintage, though the excessively hot summer created unusual, unprecedented winemaking conditions. However, from sun-enriched grape juice with an extraordinarily high sugar content glorious wines were made, resulting in a record number of Beerenauslesen and Trockenbeerenauslesen in the Mosel/Saar/Ruwer districts. My favorite vintage after the 1937, though I have many more notes of the '59s. The top wines are still beautiful and will continue to be so for many years to come." - Michael Broadbent on the 1959 vintage in Germany.

The spiritual home of Riesling, producing wines of piercing acidity, precision and longevity across a spectrum from bone-dry to lusciously sweet. Cool, steep-sloped vineyards along the Mosel and Rhine yield some of the world's most delicate, long-lived whites.
A historic Riesling region along the Rhine, producing racier, often drier wines of structure and mineral depth from south-facing slopes.
