"Prominent wet-stone âslateâ character and piquant toasted walnut lend counterpoint to lusciously juicy apple and quince in a Donnhoff 2011 Oberhauser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett that epitomizes the distinctive virtues of its genre: levity, transparency to nuance, and refreshment â and this despite a relatively low-acid and unusually ripe vintage in which the wine pushes 10% alcohol. A sense of extract and stuffing is evident but somehow doesnât in the least weigh-down this long-finishing Riesling with its delectably dynamic finishing interaction of stone, spice, nuts and fruit. This, Helmut Donnhoff opines, is an example of âa site displaying its special talent.â Look for at least 12-15 years of exemplary performance."

The spiritual home of Riesling, producing wines of piercing acidity, precision and longevity across a spectrum from bone-dry to lusciously sweet. Cool, steep-sloped vineyards along the Mosel and Rhine yield some of the world's most delicate, long-lived whites.
A highly aromatic white of piercing acidity and transparency to terroir, ranging from bone-dry to lusciously sweet. It ages remarkably and is the noble grape of Germany and Alsace.
