"Tasted blind at Southwold ’06 Bordeaux tasting. I like this nose - no, I love this nose. It is a little conservative at present, but succinctly delineated, with broody blackberry, plum, crushed stone and a faint touch of chocolate and fresh dates. Just wonderful. The palate is medium-bodied, rounded and generous with sensational depth of flavour. Firm tannins, yet cloaked in ethereal black, mocha tinged fruit with a persistent finish to die for. This is one of the best wines in recent years. Could it be Hubert de Boüard’s greatest achievement to date? Quite possibly. Tasted January 2010."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
The world's largest fine-wine region, built around blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Divided by the Gironde estuary into the structured Left Bank and the plush, Merlot-led Right Bank, it is the historic benchmark for age-worthy claret and sweet Sauternes.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
