"This microscopic estate (4,000 bottles produced) consists of slightly more than 2 acres of a pre-phylloxera, 150-year-old vineyard planted with Merlot, Malbec, Carmenere, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Clos Louis’s debut vintage is 2003, and their consulting oenologist is the brilliant Claude Gros (the maitre behind the Negly wines from the Languedoc). Soft, exotic, opulent, and round, the 2003 possesses terrific purity, admirable density, silky tannin, and a gorgeous dark ruby/purple color. This [is a] fragrant, full-bodied offering . . ."
