"Good medium red. Knockout nose offers wild red berries, minerals, white pepper and truffley underbrush. Very suave on entry, then rich, thoroughly ripe and brown-spicy. The wine's impressive volume is leavened by lively chalky cut rare for New Zealand pinot. Finishes very long, with serious but fine tannins. Very sophisticated wine. Schuster, who offers this special cuvee only in the best vintages, selects batches of wine from favored sites in his limestone-rich Omihi Hills Vineyard in Waipara."
