"The 1966 Mission displays much more intensity on the nose than the 1970. Lovely notes of cedar, a touch of cigar box, white pepper and a touch of dried blood. Superb delineation and lift – but very classic, very ’66 in style. The palate is medium-bodied with good weight and vigour, classic and anachronistic, great delineation and authority with a wonderful 'stoic' finish. A marvellous, quite regal La Mission."

The world's most planted premium red grape, yielding deeply colored, tannic and structured wines with cassis, cedar and graphite notes. Firm tannins and acidity make it exceptionally age-worthy, whether as a varietal or the backbone of a Bordeaux blend.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
