I was clearly too conservative with this wine since I initially tasted it and I have raised the score accordingly. The note from Issue 11: Extremely ripe nose of wonderfully seductive aromas, including pain grillé, white flowers, pear, apple, peach and apricot notes all framed by obvious botrytis notes and a deft touch of wood which introduce incredibly rich, huge, thick and exotic flavors. This is heady stuff with a truly powerful, muscular and commanding flavor profile though it can't quite match either the '99 or the '96 in this regard. Impressive and harmonious in every respect and should prove to be quite long-lived.
