"The 2017 Charmes from Domaine Lignier included twenty percent whole clusters this year and was raised in a very civilized, one-third new oak. The wine is flat out beautiful on both the nose and palate, with the expressive bouquet offering up scents of red and black cherries, a nice touch of dark berry, beautiful spice tones, grilled meats, complex soil tones, cedar and an exotic topnote of lavender. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, complex and shows off superb mid-palate depth, with fine-grained tannins, lovely focus and grip and a fine sense of reserve out of the blocks that augurs beautifully for its future. Great juice." |
