"Laurent Lignier’s Clos de la Roche was also raised in one third new oak in 2017 and included twenty percent whole clusters. It is one of the most beautiful wines of the vintage, as it delivers a refined and sappy aromatic constellation of black cherries, black plums, a very complex base of soil, spit-roasted venison, woodsmoke, mustard seed and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with the vintage’s sappy core of fruit, great transparency, suave, refined tannins and a very, very long and promising finish that closes with outstanding energy and grip. This is a young puppy, but it will reward patience with unbridled beauty." |
