"Both of these 2017s were purchased at retail in the US. Starting with the 2017 Côte Rôtie Les Journaries, this cuvée comes from the La Landonne lieu-dit. It's not destemmed and was brought up in used oak. A gorgeous perfume of red and blue fruits, spring flowers, smoked game, wild herbs, and pepper all give way to medium to full-bodied, exotic, pure, old school beauty that just sings of Syrah. It has an elegant, seamless style that's already hard to resist, yet it builds on the palate, has bright acidity, and ample tannins, all promising a long life." |
