"The malo for the 2016 Trilogie ended at the same time as the Trés Girard, but the wine was showing a bit reduced at the time of my visit and needed a bit of coaxing to blossom. Once the wine opens up, it shows off great purity in its black fruity blend of black cherries, black plums, pigeon, a fine base of soil, dark chocolate and a topnote of woodsmoke. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and broader-shouldered than the Trés Girard, with a very good core, ripe tannins and a long, tangy finish that closes with nascent complexity and fine grip. . ." |
