93 JG. "The 2000 Les Amoureuses possesses excellent structure and tang for the vintage, and while imminently drinkable right now, will most assuredly gain with a few years of bottle age. This is a great 2000, soaring from the glass in a mélange of red cherries and strawberries, a bit of orange rind, chalky minerality, intense rose petals, mustard seed, coffee and an underpinning of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is medium-full, bright and tangy, with great intensity of flavor, some ripe tannin, and great length and grip on the elegant, peacock’s tail of a finish. A truly remarkable 2000 and an extremely elegant wine that should cruise well for a couple of decades." View From the Cellar, Bonus Articles, 2000 Red Burgundy In the Bottle (April 2004) (4/1/2004) |
