90 NM. "The Heitz Cabernet ’68 has a lovely nose of hoisin, liquorice, cedar and autumn leaves that seems to be undiminished by age, maintaining great definition and vivacity, more Old World than New. The palate is very well balanced with solid tannins but no shortage of finesse with hints of dried orange peel, mirin and star anise towards a finish that surely must have been so decadent during the 1970s. It takes its foot off the pedal towards the finish with a comparatively dry, tobacco finish but by then I am more than happy. Tasted June 2010." Neal Martin, Wine Journal, Jul 2011 |
