Lot #1177. Tenuta Carretta Barolo Poderi Cannubi 1990

Description: Consists of 11 Bottles, 0.75L
Region: Italy, Piedmont, Barolo.
Score: 92 RP.
"The marvelous 1990 Barolo is made in a traditional, robust, tannic yet super-rich style. It emanates from the highly regarded Cannubi vineyard. It is larger-scaled than the 1989 Barolo Cannubi (and that's saying something), with explosive levels of extract, tannin, glycerin, body, and alcohol. Although it must have 14.5% - 15% alcohol, there is no noticeable hotness because of the wine's sheer concentration. This extroverted, macho, beefy Barolo should be drunk between 1998-2015. This wine is unequivocally from the traditional school of Piedmontese winemaking. Its rustic side, evidenced by huge quantities of ferocious tannin, is accompanied by deep, full-bodied, concentrated wine with layers of pure, ripe fruit. Impressive!" Wine Advocate #92, Apr 1994
Provenance: The Chartreuse Cellar
Notes: Very top shoulder, very lightly scuffed, 2 very lightly damp stained labels.
