Lot #71. WITHDRAWN

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Score: 99 AM.
While such statements are difficult to make for a variety of reasons, the '49 de Vogüé Musigny is one of the greatest red Burgundy of my lifetime and writing a tasting note about such a wine is frankly impossible because mere words cannot possibly capture its greatness. This is not because we lack descriptors for its sensorial brilliance but rather because wines such as this are emotionally thrilling experiences. They touch you in a way that is impossible to adequately communicate. Superlatives such as awesome, stunning, astonishing, fantastic, otherworldly, etc. really only give a superficial notion of just how dazzling this wine is. For the record, even well stored bottles are beginning to tire and thus due caution is in order. I have had only one other bottle (with thanks to David Paige) at this level in the last 10 years so provenance is clearly paramount. Allen Meadows, July 27, 2007
Notes: 5.5cm, worn and lightly torn capsule, cut to reveal Domaine, vintage and vineyard branded cork, bin soiled and very lightly scuffed label, #578.
