95+ VM. "Dark ruby-red with a hint of amber at the rim. Balsamic nose features strawberry, kirsch and fresh herbs complicated by notes of underbrush and plum brandy. More delicate on the palate than the nose suggests, offering small red berry and tar flavors, fine-grained tannins and a long, minerally finish. This wine is evolving extremely slowly and is still fairly closed, but I think it will eventually prove to be one of the greatest Il Poggio wines ever." Vinous, Feb 2013 |
