92 JG. "The 1998 Coutier vintage cuvée is a lovely bottle of bubbly that is drinking very well now, but which also possesses the structure to age gracefully for at least another decade. The deep and complex nose offers up scents of apples, pears, bread dough, gentle leesy tones, a touch of citrus zest and a fine base of stony minerality. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, crisp and complex, with good mid-palate depth, brisk acids, fine mousse and a long, classy and beautifully balanced finish. The 1998 vintage has produced a very elegant and refined group of wines in general, and the R. H. Coutier bottling is a perfect example of this very classic style of vintage. A very refined bottle."
