Lot #108. Michel Niellon Bâtard-Montrachet 2004

Description: Consists of 2 Bottles, 0.75L
Score: 95 JG.
"In almost every instance that I can think of, I normally have a preference for a domaine’s Chevalier over its Bâtard, but this is emphatically not the case with the two Niellon versions, as it is impossible to pick a clear favorite between these two great young wines. The nose on the 2004 Bâtard is deep and just as fine as the Chevalier, offering up notes of apples, pear, lime blossoms, a bit of Niellon herb tones, striking minerality for a young Bâtard-Montrachet, and a delicate framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and aristocratic, with excellent acidity, a rock solid core, and great length and grip on the backward finish. Just stunning juice." John Gilman, View From the Cellar, Jan/Feb 2006, Issue #1
Lot Location: Orange County
Estimate: $500
