Lot #221. Ausone 1949

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Score: 95-97 NM.
"This is leagues ahead of the 1945. A marked deep garnet core with an auburn rim. A stunning nose with wonderful definition and vigor with notes of apricot, wild strawberry and herbs. It has an almost exotic character. The palate is vigorous with stunning definition. Good weight, symmetrical with firm, almost rigid tannins that reminded me of the Latour 1949. Certainly a majestic 1949, authoritative, confident and with years ahead of it. Drink now, although this bottle showed absolutely no signs of giving up the ghost." Neal Martin, Wine Journal, Dec 1999
Notes: Very top shoulder, lightly corroded and scuffed capsule, heavily torn and bin soiled label, sign of slight past seepage.
